Early Life and Education:
Mohammed Ismail Sherif was born in January 9, 2002, in Ashanti Region of Ghana, Konongo “Zongo” and was raised by his parents though they worked mostly overseas. At the age of 10, he started living with his aunt and other relatives.
Black Sherif completed his primary and secondary education in Konogo, Ashanti Region. He finished his secondary school education at Kumasi Academy in 2019 and then decided to fully go into the entertainment industry. He is currently studying marketing in the University of Professional Studies (UPSA).

He was born to an Asante Muslim convert father Mr Frimpong and Muslim mother Ante Marie, otherwise known as Ante Mariama. His parents are abroad based but occasionally visit Ghana to see their children.
Career:
Black Sherif’s music career began in 2019 when he released his first song “Cry for Me” on YouTube though it wasn’t a hit. May 25 2020, he released his debut single “Money” along with a music video and it was a hit.
He came into the limelight in May 2021 after releasing the Song “First Sermon” and gained more audience by doing a follow up with the “Second Sermon” in July, 2021.
Black Sherif’s breakthrough came in March 2022 after releasing his single which he titled “Kwaku The Traveller”. The track reached Number 1 on the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music charts. The Single is seen as the first Ghana song to go number 1 in Nigeria music chart. In October 2022, he released his debut album “The Villain I Never Was”.
The album received critical acclaim, earning him several awards. During the 2022 Ghana Music Awards, Black Sherif was awarded the “Best New Artist” and “Best Hip Hop Song”.
He has been opportune to collaborate with many artists like Sarkodie, Stormzy, DJ Breezy, Larry Gaaga, Amerado and many others.
On 20 February 2023, he won the “Best Hip Hop Award” at the Sound city MVP Awards, which was held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos State, Nigeria.
