Early Life
Chinedu Okoli is originally from Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area in Anambra State, Nigeria. He was born on November 23, 1983 in Enugu State. Flavour’s passion for music began when he was very young. At the age of 13, he started playing drums for his local church in Enugu, his talent, dedicated and zeal made the resident pastor at his church introduce him to a friend by name Chris I. Order, who is the CEO of SoundCity Communications.
As the result of being recommended by a pastor, he was invited to join the company on an educational scholarship to study music, this happened in 1996.
After three years of playing and getting experience in drumming, Flavour advanced professionally. In 1999, he stopped playing drums and dived into playing the keyboard. As a talented artiste, he used to provide back-up vocals for other musicians at SoundCity.
Career Journey
After working with SoundCity Communications for eleven years, Flavour decided to leave the company, he started playing with different bands on his own although it was a difficult journey. Being a self determined person, he kept on learning on the street, with time, he started going to the studio to learn Studio recording. During the period of learning studio recording, he met Darkman and Nigga Raw, he was given opportunity to do choruses for Nigga Raw. After some time, Flavor started recording and creating his own songs from scratch.
In 2008, Flavour released his 8-track album which he titled “N’abania”. Afterwards, he released “Uplifted” in 2010. The album “Uplifted” had hit singles: Nwa Baby, Oyi and Adanma. It was a successful album and made waves on various media platforms. This created a platform for Flavour to become one of Africa’s most sort of artists.
Flavour has been opportune to perform on the same stage with popular international artists like Snoop Dogg, Ciara, French Montana, Lauryn Hill, Akon, Rick Ross, and many others. He has performed for several sold-out audiences worldwide and has featured in major newspapers and media outlets around the world.
In October 2012, he released his third album which he titled “Blessed” under 2nite Entertainment label. Flavour has grown to be a force in the music industry locally and internationally. He released his fourth album “Thankful” alongside the hit single “Power to Win”. The song Power to Win was one of the soundtracks used for American Idol Season 14.
